Rooted in Territory
Together with my design and artisan team, I work between the State of Mexico
(2015) and Baja California Sur (2021), bringing this new project to life.
These enclaves—my homes and sources of inspiration—have shaped our practice in recent years. My ongoing commitment to local practices led me to collaborate on this project with the Todos Santos ceramic studio, Barro Sur.
This journey embodies a broader connection between geographies, expressed through wool, clay, and the poetics of light. They are vessels of territory—lamps where earth, craft, and light converge.
These pieces speak of our constant interaction with the natural environment. We harvest the wool from my own flock of 20 German-breed sheep that live at the foot of the volcanoes in the State of Mexico, on a farm that my husband (he is German) and I maintain at the volcano’s foothills.

Design Intersections
We wash, card, and spin the wool in Güalupita, also in the State of Mexico, to create the pompoms or Pellizcos together with Master
Artisan Tito Millán, with whom we have collaborated for over eight years. Tito weaves our renowned Pellizco rugs—hence the name also given to these pompoms. This textile, made entirely of Mexican wool, emerges from an experimental process between us as designers and the wisdom of Maestro Millán, resulting in a unique creation.

Design Intersections
Meanwhile, in Baja California Sur, ceramic artist Steve Jacobi, director of the Barro Sur workshop, handcrafts each of the lamp bases with great mastery. Steve’s generous and open approach allowed me to integrate both parts of the lamps: the originality and playfulness of our textile with the solidity of high-fired stoneware.
These significant design objects are like a puzzle: as they come together, they embody the qualities of the materials, the mastery of craft, and the generosity of nature—elevated by the finest European fixtures.
