TULE COLLECTION
txt.ure was the first design project to reintroduce the Mexican weaving style of the knotted tule technique. Once in danger of disappearing, the txt.01 tabouret or in Nahuatl the tolli-icpalli knotting method, now gives structure to signature works from the txt.ure Tule Collection, developed with master artisans to achieve durability and contemporary scale.
Drawing on more than two years of research and development, the Tule Collection encourage the wider awareness of Mexican craft techniques in the current design conversation.
All txt.ure pieces are crafted by weavers and apprentices under the mastery of our partner, artisan Don Nacho Morales in the State of Mexico.

The txt.01 is a handmade tabouret-style seat woven from the plant tolli in Náhuatl (in Spanish, tule), a plant that grows near the edges of freshwater bodies.
txt.01 is one of the unique objects made with the same technology as in the pre-Hispanic era, in a tactile lineage to the past. The forms of the txt.01 combine traditional knotting techniques with updated functionality, translating the icpalli into a longer-lasting, ergonomic, and contemporary piece.

With the txt.02, txt.ure introduces grandeur in scale to the woven tule tabouret. The txt.02 is a wider variant than the txt.01 in diameter and preserves the original pre-Hispanic icpalli typology in terms of height for compelling proportions.
The txt.02 tabouret accompanies our txt.03 individual armchair as an ottoman or side table, with a simple tray placed on top.
As a textural accent, the txt.02 introduces warmth and visual interest to a wide range of design settings.

The txt.03 revisits and updates a Mexican folk classic, the equipal chair. Built from woven tule fiber on a wood base, the elegant proportions of txt.03 also provide longer-lasting support and comfort. The knotted architecture confers a powerful presence.
With the txt.03, txt.ure has further developed the quality of the manufacturing process, creating a signature piece of the Tule Collection. Also available as txt.08, with low backrest.

The txt.04 is an exceptional example of new forms resulting from the exploration of technical possibilities. txt.ure worked for two years to develop large-scale weaving for contemporary settings with our partner.
With a wooden frame to support a loveseat structure and multiple sitters, the opulent proportions of the txt.04 invite relaxation in both private spaces and public areas.

The txt.05 elongates the proportions and scale possible within icpalli (seats) weaving, and is woven when the reeds are still green and moist, with a traditional knotting technique to create a solid structure made entirely of tule, supported by a wooden structure.
Ideal for narrow transit spaces, or as a bench, the txt05 also warms up the foot of a bed, with a pleasing weight and solidity.

The txt.09 is a continuation of the txt.04 love seat. Our Canapé delivers less nostalgic shapes that appeal more to modern spaces. Canapés can vary in length and seats two or three people.
Built with a wooden frame to support the loveseat structure and multiple sitters, the magnificent proportions of the txt.09. Accessorize it to invite relaxation in both private spaces and public areas.

An original txt.ure development, the txt.15 functions as a Mexican tatami or paillasse. Dressing up benches or windowsills, the txt.15 functions as an elegant and sturdy topping.
Developed in conjunction with designers and artisans, our tule paillasse will add distinction to any surface, and is sun-resistant for outdoor and pool areas.

Popularly known as chimpestles, the txt.16 draws on the ingenuity of pre-Hispanic seating solutions. Made of bounded tule, the pieces are customizable in size and length, with a traditional carrying handle. They function as low seating for indoors and outdoors, as well as decorative objects.

An original design, txt.ure´s daybeds are corporeal and luxurious pieces of furniture. Their design directly quotes Ricardo Legorreta's 1972 Vallarta Series. The form evokes a certain Mexican post-modernism while achieving an atemporal quality, linking it to it´s design history. Designed with two headrests, the txt.17 features a custom palliasse with a customizable wooden structure.
It is a proud addition to the Tule Family.

Their design directly quotes Ricardo Legorreta's 1972 Vallarta Series. The form evokes a certain Mexican post-modernism while achieving an atemporal quality, linking it to it´s design history. Designed with one headrest, the txt.17 is the best seller of the two models. It features a custom palliasse with a customizable wooden structure.
